Why We Love It

The Cameo Cuff represents a modern take on an ancient cameo piece of jewellery. The cameo face of a traditional African woman is set in solid brass at a foundry in England and hand finished in dark cow horn. Cow horn is a recycled by-product and hand carved by artisans in Nairobi, Kenya. The Cameo Cuff is available in a small or medium size. Each cuff is handmade from natural materials - please note that colour variation, inclusions and slight irregularities may occur.

About Fouché

Fouché jewellery is designed by Claire Fouché, an artist and jeweller with a deep interest in African culture, craftsmanship & rare gemstones. Claire takes inspiration from the Italian art déco architecture of Asmara on the Horn of Africa and interprets into modern, sculptured cuffs and bold earrings amongst her jewellery designs. Fouché jewellery is hand carved by artisans in Nairobi using locally sourced materials such as Ankole cow horn and wood that is intricately finished by hand in small workshops based in England. Claire is half South African and grew up travelling around Africa with her parents. The 'Diana' Cuff is named after her late mother and takes inspiration from the warrior cuffs worn by style icon Diana Vreeland and Nancy Cunard. Claire is a former couture jeweller for Fabergé where she trained as a designer and gemologist. Fouché jewellery provides ongoing fair-trade employment to skilled artisans in Nairobi and Kibera, Africa's largest slum. In 2012 Claire co-founded the Maisha Foundation to support young talent from Kibera in skills training programmes. Fouché jewellery is coveted by inspirational women around the world, including Sienna Miller and Lucinda Chambers, and has featured in British, French & Brazilian Vogue.
